Worth drooling over...

Our dogs always inspire me...I love the bulldog expression. This design works well in many different formats: baby bibs, coffee mugs, sleep shirts, etc. Created an additional design with the English flag for heritage pride as well.

Ninjago Birthday Kung Fu!

My 5 year old son requested a Ninjago (Ninja Lego) theme for his birthday party this year...so I ran with it! I created invitations using the PDF poster downloads from the Ninjago website. The layout resembled a pocket map concept (see photo). It would be easy enough to drop the images onto a postcard or notecard layout too.

The goodie boxes & party supplies were a breeze - purchased Chinese New Year take out boxes, toys and decorations from the Oriental Trading website.

Onto the tasty treats! Recently, I had tried "cake balls" at a bakery in Newport, RI and thought this would be a great alternative to a large cake for the kids. I actually purchased the Bake Pops kit from an advertisement I had seen on TV. This made life much easier...it took about 2 weeks to arrive, so plan ahead. The cake pops were decorated with red and yellow melting chocolate. A food marker was used to create the faces. For the cake pop display, I printed Kai's face onto a red background and printed a banner for the cookie tin, placed floral styrofoam inside, stuck bake pops into the styrofoam and covered with crumpled paper strips.

We also had a second party for the family. I knew cake balls wouldn't be enough dessert, so I converted the Kai Ninjago poster to a jpeg, uploaded to Walgreen's photo website, had it printed as a 5" x 7" photo and brought it to our supermarket bakery. An easy custom cake!

Second tasty treat - Rice Krispie Sushi! I found this wonderful idea online from another mom's blog. So easy and came out awesome: Swedish fish, fruit roll-ups & Rice Krispies. With so many allergies in school, this was the perfect classroom treat to celebrate his birthday.

Third tasty treat - Sensei Wu mustaches. Purchased mustache candy molds at the craft store, melting chocolate and lollipop sticks. Placed the mustaches in bags with a Sensei Wu tag and dropped one in each goodie box. Ideally, the chocolate would be white, but my son doesn't care for it...so milk chocolate it is!

The party took place at a local gymnastics school...we called it the Ninja training facility. I'm sure a kung-fu school would be a great location for the kids party too. Everyone had a great time, especially the birthday boy (^:

Let's Get Noticed

All those hair salon ads seem to have the same formula: photo of a pouting hair model, pair of scissors clip art, and a giant "percentage off" graphic. Well, the Flip Salon & Boutique is different...so I wanted their ad to stand out and evoke a sense of tranquility, luxury and style. I love the attitude of the girl in this layout, she knows she looks good and she knows you can't take your eyes off her!

And baby makes three...

I have a fondness for illustration styles of the 1970's. Sparking memories of carefree childhood days shared with the Tree Tots, Mickey Mouse Club House Weebles, Monchhichi and many more. That was the inspiration for creating the "Baby Makes Three" owl illustration for a friend's baby shower. However, I had become so caught up in the finishing touches on the diaper cake (complete with baby tattoos), I had forgotten to include the personalized owl greeting card! Oh well, at least this little guy can still be shared with the rest of the world on Cafe Press!

Flippin' Closure

Well, the outdoor signage has finally been installed for my latest project and it feels good. Can't wait to start doing more promotional work and playing with the name. More importantly, I can't wait to get my hair done!

Flippin' design

Have been enjoying online research for vintage Hollywood inspiration for my latest project, "FLIP salon & boutique". First on the design layout grocery list: outdoor signage. I've designed 3 options for the loooooongest sign I've ever created! Looking forward to creating more...

For the love of a Bulldog

Christmas is almost here and I'm still scrambling to finish up my custom presents! Most recently, I've created this English Bulldog & French Bulldog Crest logo for my husband's barbershop . These boys act like typical brothers...always rough housing and fighting over toys. The house would be too quiet without em'

Tis the season

Love designing the Christmas cards, hate writing 'em out. Now that the cards have been sent to the printer, the holiday season has officially started for me! Next weekend will include driving to Bethlehem post office to join the other merry mailers and stamp the back of our xmas envelopes, just can't let my son bring any of 'em home!

Creative Juices

Creating artwork for gifts and parties always motivates me...
I recently created Hulk invitations for a 4-year old birthday party and it snowballed into a hulk centerpiece, goodie boxes, thank-you postcards, cake and cupcakes...the edible glitter doesn't hold up well overnight!

Our Veterinarian/guardian angel has been so wonderful to us & our two bulldogs, I've decided to create artwork for him also. He owns an English Bulldog named Henry...

Winter Weather

The only things I enjoy (so far) when winter arrives are snow days from work and wearing snugly hats and scarves. The cozy textures are inspiring me to create a collage for our family Christmas card...computer generated, of course::busy moms have to make compromises!
